The IDDRC is committed to advancing research in intellectual and developmental disabilities in order to contribute to the resolution of many of the problems encountered by individuals with these disorders and their families. The center activities include identifying as many causes as possible of intellectual and developmental disabilities, preventing these disorders, and providing interventional schemes that can improve the quality of life of affected individuals whenever possible.
Core Services
The cores of the BCM IDDRC give participating investigators access to expertise and techniques that are typically not available in individual laboratories and facilitate synergistic interactions between clinicians, neurobiologists, geneticists, and cell and molecular biologists.
Investigators
Over 50 highly trained faculty scientists make up the BCM IDDRC. We study a wide range of disorders, the development and degeneration of senses, and disorders of the cardiovascular and skeletal systems.
