Professional Statement
My laboratory is studying tumorigenesis of GI-tract cancers, focusing on discovering novel genomic and proteomic alterations associated with GI cancers, and translating this knowledge into novel diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for pancreatic cancer and colorectal cancer. Our work in pancreatic cancer focuses on dissecting the signaling pathways and protein interaction networks that orchestrate tumor growth, invasion and metastasis to develop diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers. Another focus of our lab is studying neoplastic progression of colitis-associated colorectal cancer. Our studies have discovered novel molecular abnormalities as a field defect in early tumorigenesis of colorectal cancer. More recently, we are interrogating the complex interplays between gut microbiota and host response, and investigating how they affect the development of colorectal cancer.Selected Publications
