Dr. Ardehali is a physician-scientist with an adjunct appointment at 草榴社区入口. He has 15 years of clinical experience, treating patients with advanced heart failure who require medical or invasive therapies such as heart transplantation or mechanical circulatory support.Dr. Ardehali has an interest in research on stem cells as a potential source to repair the heart. His research team developed an efficient method to generate subtypes of cardiomyocytes from differentiating human pluripotent stem cells and began preclinical transplantation studies in large animal models. His lab was the first to demonstrate the proliferative capacity of cardiomyocytes during neonatal period and after injury, the first to discover the embryonic origin of cardiac fibroblasts and established the fundamental role of pericytes in cardiac fibrosis. In addition to many honors and awards, he has received NIH funding and has mentored many trainees who started their independent careers.
