Professional Statement
Dr. MaiLan Nguyen earned her undergraduate degree from Washington University in St. Louis in biomedical engineering. She returned to her home state of Florida to complete her medical degree at the University of Florida College of Medicine. She completed her pediatric residency and pediatric rheumatology fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. Dr. Nguyen completed additional training in utilizing musculoskeletal ultrasound in the evaluation of patients with rheumatologic disease through the Ultrasound School of North American Rheumatologists (USSONAR).During her training, she developed research interests in pediatric systemic lupus erythematosus and juvenile inflammatory myopathies. Her clinical research sought to characterize the histopathologic features in subgroups of patients with myositis-specific antibodies in juvenile inflammatory myopathies. She also has an interest in education and enjoys working with medical trainees.
Dr. Nguyen is dedicated to providing compassionate, individualized, evidence-based care for her patients and strives to empower her patients and their families through awareness, education, and collaboration.
