Professional Statement
As a physician scientist in the field of epilepsy, Dr. Maheshwari treats patients with epilepsy and also researches the circuits that underlie brain dysfunction. Under the mentorship of Jeffrey Noebels, MD, PhD, he initially worked with mouse models of epilepsy to identify the role of certain types of neurons in developing epilepsy, generating abnormal brain oscillations, and response to anti-epileptic drugs. More recently, he has been studying how brain oscillations abnormally develop in both epilepsy and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). This research aids in his overall goal of treating both epilepsy and its related comorbidities.Websites
