The Texas Ethics Consortium is an informal group of ethicists across Texas who meet regularly to ask questions, share information, and develop relationships with colleagues across institutions.
The TEC was , where hospitals were tasked with creating guidelines for providing care for patients while there were growing shortages in hospital beds, PPE, and others. This group provided a forum to work through ethical questions and share resources to help navigate the unprecedented pandemic.
It has since expanded beyond the acute need for COVID-19 discussion, and has become a venue for conversations about ethical issues faced in different institutions, as well as camaraderie and networking.
